Pretty much the size of it, isn’t it? Although, sometimes, I think I’m more bungling through the universe than bumping through it.
A side note: At the last minute of the drawing stage I decided to include Telstar smack-dab in the middle of the painting. My wife was talking with her sister in Germany over the phone at the time- a cellphone- a wireless telephone with its own built-in computer, camera, and more other stuff than a Swiss Army knife. She not only heard her sister in Germany clear as a bell, but she could also see her on a tiny TV screen. I just had to marvel at this.
I was nine when they launched Telstar, the world’s first telecommunications satellite. Some French guy, Yves Montand, sang a song. The picture was grainy and black and white. The sound quality was also somewhat unimpressive. But he was doing this at that very moment in Europe. That was the cool part. I felt Telstar needed some love.
